Rail + Port Expertise For Africa
- Why spend billions in new railway lines when existing ones could be refurbished at a fraction of the price?
- Why isn't there enough rolling stock when easy solutions exist to get locomotives and railcars?
- Why are ports less efficient than in other regions when traffic growth should boost trade and efficiency?
Who we are
African Railfreight Development Corporation (ARDC) is a new company which specializes in providing efficient
and affordable transport solutions to the developing economies in Africa.
ARDC aims at blending rail and port expertise as well as funding capability; this is a unique offering on the market.
ARDC believes strongly that it is not always economic to build new railways to cope with existing or new traffic. At
a cost of 10% to 20% of a new railway, ARDC knows that it is perfectly possible to overhaul and improve existing
railways through largely tested methods and very focused investments.
ARDC has access to substantial funds, and to a vast network of industry expertise, providing an intimate knowledge
of railways operations.
ARDC is confident in its ability to provide efficient and cost-effective solutions to transport problems, including the
development of comprehensive plans encompassing safety, reliability and operational improvements, together with funding
arrangements to support these.
